Beer

Postby Delicate Snowflake » Thu Jan 26, 2017 7:49 am

Happy Australia Day everyone (Jan' 26) :wings

Tonight I'm drinking one of the best Aussie beers; Coopers Best Extra Stout

Handy hint - they also sell a 'reserve stout' (more $$) - it's the same stuff but aged on the shelf for a few months so just buy this one and put it in your cupboard for a while :Clap

Paul Hogan / Crocodile Dundee has a lot to answer for :DirtDOG

The Fosters you buy is (sadly) 'export market' made overseas somewhere... about 4% alcohol? Fosters is barely sold here, it's hard to find it (for the past 30 years or so). It just got back into shops this past year or so.

Overseas they make it, with much lower alcohol (our local beer is strong in comparison to most countries).

You should come here for a holiday! Bring hubby! I will take you out drinking :wings

I'd rather be a farm babysitter than take a boat all the way to Oz.

Today was a hot day, I was west of Sydney visiting a mate at his work (motorcycle dealership) and then his home (large metal shed in the back yard).

Wowsers... 40-ish outside (104f) and more like 48 in the shed (118f).

So... here comes the good idea:

He had the beer (cans) in the freezer. He poured them with icy chunks n the liquid.

OMG the froth on top was soft and creamy, not the normal foam. And the ice crystals kept the beer frosty cold. :drool

A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED METHOD (on a hot day) :wings

I haven't seen it in years, so when I saw it I bought it.

Everyone in the shop looked at me like I had a few kangaroos loose in the top paddock.
