It's like most years - we have really wet places, with full dams. Other places - especially South Australia right now - are in extreme drought. Our geography gives us plentiful water but not always where we need it. No politician has had the foresight to put a big project in place to move the water....

Long story short - the cyclone fizzled out mostly.

Lots of rain, with resultant floods, and trees down. But relatively minor compared to many past storms.

The rain has finally arrived down south here, looks like a very wet day. The dams will be nice and full!

You're right though - plenty of idiots trying to surf the waves and drive through floodwaters

Update: Cyclones were this far south during the 1970's and earlier, but we've had a good long break since then. The storm has slowed to a crawl (7km/hr, 4.5 mph roughly)... this means much more rain and ocean swells. A new record wave was recorded on the Gold Coast overnight (just south of Brisbane)...

Stay safe down there! Isn’t it rather rare to have a cyclone coming in to the Brisbane region? I think you're right... this one formed up much further north near Cairns but then seems to have headed south and stayed intact instead of petering out. I am another 800km+ south, bright blue skies down h...

Supposedly, this cat-2 cyclone is going to veer into the coast in the next day or so...

What a great location, above the clouds and pollution, away from city lights.

That would be a good spot for a telescope

Sometimes, even when you specify width and height in the image tags, the forum settings override them, or the image distorts. It’s why I usually just resize the image beforehand and then upload it instead of relying on forum formatting. I can't get image tag sizes here to work. I resize before uplo...
