Made another silly little "Wildcat Cartridge" round that is totally inert, and a dummy round for a gift. I use them to hone my threading skills a bit, practice measuring, boring, and...

It's also hollow for (reverting back to my High School days) hiding a stash.

I bought a whole box of aluminum rod stock at a small machine shop closing sale. Some short, some long, but all at .506" diameter. I've found various uses for them, made some handles, supports for a rack, spacers, etc.
Then one was laying on my workbench when I had a 30-30 on the bench I was cleaning. A rifle round was laying there, the aluminum stock was there, the lathe was there...
It escalated rather fast.

Throw one in the range bag and start a conversation with the resident expert about a .357 Herrett or something that will throw him so far off that he'll ....... well,

This last one I went up to 36 TPI (threads per inch) at .438" diameter. Yeah, run down to Ace HArdware and ask for a nut to fit that!


Next up are some "washers" I need. Special washers.

I needed to recharge my head lamp. Well I have so many bloody cords.

That ya look at them and they all have a different shape hook up.

So for the faster quicker way of finding the correct cord.

I always save the white thingy's from Tater or Onion sacks , They are much bigger than the bread ones and Never have writing on them. I did the 2 way radios, cameras, Head lamps ,Anything that takes the USB cords, hell I even did the TV, Roku, power box, VCR. all the stuff that is hooked on the poser surge strip. The computer, key board, mouse, speakers, printer, lamp. That are all on the other power surge box.


Just to show ya what I'm talking about.

I use a sharpie , so you can see how they are a nice size.

The Snap-On truck used to visit our dealership [back in the 1990's].

His business model was similar to a drug dealer.

He'd get the mechanics hooked with a freebie or two... after that he let them have the tools when needed, and come back every week just after payday to collect instalments in cash.

They were damned fine tools though!

Neighbor comes over, his mother flew in for her grand daughters birthday party... Uses the family PT Cruiser while she's here, but it's mostly parked in a garage. 2004 and only has 38,000 miles on it.
Runs rough, check engine light on......
"But we just took it in for a check up and oil change."

Siphoned out 1 extra quart of oil from the engine, cleared the code, and took it for a test drive.
Sometimes........... Too much can be just as bad as not enough.

Rough idle gone, runs fine, and they said it sounds normal again.

"That'll be three bottles of beer and a nice bottle of wine please.

I rode my 955 a couple of times this week on dirty roads. It got a quick suds and rinse at home, but it is not a hack and needs a proper clean. My time is being monopolised by work and children. Love them to death, but they are draining. Looking at it, the 955, now thinking I might have to pay someone to do it. At least my office is in my workshop.

One current project is a 120kW gas turbine engine. Most of the parts come off SLM/DMLS printers... when I find the time. School holidays is not a good time. Incidentally, prototype engines have exceeded 10,000hrs on the bench and are flown in two aircraft. I have about 20hrs in one of them.
The printers share time with bicycle frame lugs for hydroformed tubes and components. I want ten bikes completed by the end of summer, but Christmas is looking more likely.

This week my 955 did get that clean it needed. Not before I rode it a couple more times, then I paid a couple of teenagers to do the work. My K1600GTL is my daily ride - if only I rode it daily... I got them to clean that too.

A few more engine bits.

Frame lugs are complete. Two frames in the jigs almost ready for bonding.

And a day in Genoa with #1 and a few friends. #1 and I visited the Piaggio facilities while others found food and coffee and did some shopping.
