Welcome to the new members on this forum.

01/16 - Havana/Cayo Coco

Journey with a tourist bus to join Cayo Coco, 6h30 of road.
Fast road for almost half of the journey, "monotonous" landscape without major changes, service stations and "restaurants" are rare on this part, then we find a small road with the crossing of villages so it is more interesting.

At the approach of the road to join Cayo Coco there is a tollgate which is also used as control point to know "who enters", This road is in fact a cordon which was filled in the sea with many bridges to allow the sea to "pass" on one side or the other of this cordon.

Once on the strip of land of Cayo, there are many hotels next to each other.
The hotel where we are (Melia Jardines del Ray) is still closed to tourists, it is a big complex of more than 1000 rooms and we are about 40 in one building...
The atmosphere is therefore a bit special with a huge territory and nobody...

Thank you so much for the insight into Cuba, we never really hear of much of it here in the States.

During the season there are many tourists from Canada and Russia.
Here in the Cayo people come for the beach and they stay in the perimeter of the hotel.
As for me, for the moment I don't have a car so I also stay in the area between my hotel and the one we are building.

Cayo Paredon - Hotel Swandor
This hotel is finished and it is ready to receive tourists, as indicated in the previous post, at the sight of the languages on the signs one knows which are the customers...

(The Swandor is at "Los Pinos" - There is another hotel being finished next door, and two others under construction, including the one where I work)

You're right, for vintage car enthusiasts here there is plenty to see and do.

A Chevy 55 seen at the service station, the owner was proud to say that it was the original engine.

02/20 - Visit to the town of Moron located not far from the access road to Cayo Coco. The toll costs 20 pesos to enter or leave the Cayo.

02/26 - It's the end of my stay in Cuba, originally it was planned that I would stay much longer but on the one hand the work proposed does not correspond to my expectations and on the other hand I wish to be a little closer to my family, especially at this time.
(I'll come back to this subject later).
