I had not heard that. Though, people making a buck off fellow inmates in the FleaMarket have long been encouraged to give something back to the site. What's a mistake, IMHO, is letting FleaMarket be open to non-inmates... it should be closed off to the outside world, and only visible to members. Like JM.

I’m a cheap ole grump but when I find something I enjoy I’m perfectly happy to contribute to its well being , but when you tell me I gotta pay to play and you ain’t deliverin shit I’m out . The difficult decision facing me now is should I just sign out and say fuckem or go out in a blaze of glory . I’ve never had to face a decision like this before .

In my opinion, the whole thing is akin to an author having to buy his book from the publisher. The site exists solely based on user submitted content, and then we are expected to pay to see this content? Huh...methinks not!

Nothing is free. The prior owner covered the costs without asking anything of the majority of us. Now, things are different. Making it "ad friendly" and catering to the perpetually offended will definitely make it something other than what it was.

And that may kill it. Or, not. Time will tell.

It would seem to me the sensible route to go would be to charge a nominal fee for the flea market and vendor's section. The rest of us are supporting the site by either viewing ads or becoming "supporters". I have said it before and will say it again, it makes zero sense for the contributors to provide the actual content of the site, which is then monetized by the owner(s) and essentially sold back to the contributors. Let those that are making money off the site pay for the site.

I’ve refused to buy in until I was no longer banned from part of the site (CSM). Now I’m out for 3 months for posting an FBI/US Gov graph on who kills who in the USA relative to race and colour. This was done in an appropriately named thread not in my banned CSM.

I wish I could post a link to the photo on my drive here. How is that done?

The new owners are quite sensitive to anything that is critical of the quite obvious far left bias evident in what is bannable and what is not. Don't poke the liberals. They can't take it.

It makes no sense to pay, to play. I won't when the content is generated free. Pollute it with advertising, I'll use a blocker. Block use because of using a blocker...well I still won't pay. Ask for a contribution before posting FM ads, only if it is removed from searchable internet and inmate only, and then maybe not.

When the sites value is derived from freely contributed content how can you charge the contributors?

That said my ban has me wondering if Adv will get my continued time/effort in posting. Having seen useful threads consigned to HE for needless dickery, when the poster should have been punted.

I stopped contributing when the mods refused to censure the several dozen lefties who wished I would die from attending Sturgis last year. I put all the asswipes on iggy and stopped paying. Adblocker seems to work well to keep that nonsense at bay. And anyone who read my praises of the efforts of the "peace party" held in SE Kansas, turns out there were a bunch of fair weather 'friends", most of whom I have no desire to ever see again.

The CSM clique is toxic and beginning to pollute the entire site.

Leaning Left is one thing but excoriating and ostracizing anyone who does not is an untenable practice for a public forum.

I was recently perma banned from commenting in the WTF thread, because of "a cumulative history" of "too much CSM" in the thread. I have had one post removed. Apparently there is no recourse. I enjoy the WTF thread, as apparently a lot do based on the number of posts. And of course, the mod who took the action is unnamed. Coward that he/she is.
