So a week ago I loaded up a week ago and headed out for the Southern California desert.
Left at 0dark:30 on Friday and caught an awesome sunrise about the time I needed my first break stop.
About 12 hours later I rolled into my first night's camp spot of Rice Army Airfield.

As I looked around for a good spot on the six acres of old concrete tarmac, I heard a noise coming from the engine of the truck.
Found a spot and started setting up camp because there was nothing I could do about it now being 40 miles from anything as the sun was inking in the west.
Settled in for a night of star gazing and pulled out the camp chair to eat dinner on and then slouch down and look skyward. Wow! What a nice place to look at the cosmos.
A tripod for the cell phone only does so much to try and convey what the sights were.
A great nights sleep (after waking up in my chair outside) in the trailer provided some rest after that day of travel and headaches. Woke up and fixed breakfast, then dove into the truck.
Serpentine belt tensioner pulley, and the tool kit had everything I needed to remove it and and pound it out of the pulley. I figured someplace in Parker should have a 6203 bearing.
Always nice to carry a spare vehicle with you so you can run into town for parts. 33 miles into town and I found Parker Auto & Marine (wanted to support the locals) and the guy laughed at the bearing saying "got your money out of that one eh?"
When he spun around and headed right for the shelf with cardboard boxes full of bearings, I knew I had the right place. No questions of "Automatic or manual? Standard or deluxe? What make and model?"
He started apologizing when he found that he was out of stock of just the bearing. Then came the make & model questions, only for him to spin around and walk out with a complete pulley assembly.
Made my day! Rode back and repaired the truck, but scratched my arm all up on the fan shroud. First aid kit needs some updating too.
Loaded up and headed back into Parker to meet up with the crew.....
