I saw this on another (unrelated) forum, and thought it was appropriate to share here:

Most on-line forums follow an arc similar to what we're seeing here. It starts off hyper-focused on the subject, with users who are also focused on that subject and offer knowledge and the appreciation of other members. As the forum ages and more users join, the subject of the forum becomes water down with less knowledgeable members and those that offer opinions rather than fact and do so disrespectfully. This drives away the members that come here with good intent, the original members. The forum loses quality, and becomes just noise, driving away more members. Finally, you're left with just the trolls.

I'll take this a bit further...not sure it matters here.

I have definitely seen the effects of that 'forum aging arc' at other powersport forums that I'm on.

We come for the information, yet we stay for the camaraderie and friendship that it will (eventually) bring. If current management wants to attempt to help keep the lights on by charging a fee for certain areas of the forum, it's going to change, as discussed earlier in the thread.

Anyway, thought I'd finish my thought before it evaporated out of my brain.

At least here at banned camp, there is a sense of humor, just like ADV had YEARS ago. Once Baldy sold ADV, humor went out the door

The only laughter heard on ADV now is from the MOD lounge...Ban Hammer tossing amuses them much

Someone tested boobs in the 'new owner' thread and they were gone pretty quick, searches for their username come up 'user not found'.
