GIF embedding - help please

My tech skills are terrible. Someone here will help me.
As we all know, typically a GIF file has an address like this:
https://i.imgur.com/4bKXq2U.gifv
In the past, if I remove the 'v' from the end, and use the remaining URL as an image link, it would embed the GIF so we see the movie/gif in the forum.
These days it doesn't work, for about 60-70% of the GIFs that I want to post.
Any ideas?
As a comparison here is another address:
https://i.imgur.com/QhbDXj0.gifv
For that one I can remove the V from the end, and it works as an image.
I can't see anything different between the URL's...
So...
what is the problem that causes one to embed perfectly but the other not to?

what has worked for me is when you paste the link, back spoce one and remove the V from GIFV and it will work...now if it is one of them stoopit MP4 things..you got me there...

Maybe I should restrict myself to the naughty stuff and then I only need links

Now
this was interesting...
With a URL for an MP4, using the "IMG' image tags, it worked and played on my screen when posted.
But clearly it didn't for others viewing it, so the mods turned it into a URL. No problem.
But why does it play on my screen and not for others? Is it because it was then already in my browser cache? I tried a different browser, it still worked.
Hmm. Damned MP4's!
Any ideas out there?

It appears that by just entering (pasting) the "video address" the server then embeds it automatically.
I did that by right clicking the MP4 itself and then copying the address.
linking it as an image does not work
but inserting it as a "link" just gives you the ability to open it.
