Went back to Washington DC for our nieces wedding, and stayed with great friends who decided that they would be our tour guides.
Oh WoW!!!

I'm a history buff, and was on overload most of the week.

That sounds like an amazing trip! D.C. is such a treasure trove for history buffs—between the monuments and museums, it’s like stepping into a giant textbook. Having local friends as tour guides must have made it even better, especially since they probably knew all the hidden gems and best routes.

This summer will be my first time traveling with the whole family, including the kids, and we’re heading to Florida to check out a new water park. It seems like a fun mix of activities for both adults and little ones, and the kids are already excited about the slides and wave pools. Check the park if you’re ever in Florida and looking for something family-friendly to enjoy together.

Been to DC only a couple of times, but it was in passing thru, so nothing more than a highlight stop along the way.

One day, we'll need to actually plan to be there more than a couple of days to see more of the city.

Our friends live just north of DC in Maryland, and we were fortunate enough to stay with them for a week and one night in a hotel in DC for the wedding. The one day at the hotel, we walked around for about 4 hours and saw SO MUCH, but barely scratched the history itch. It's overload for a history buff like myself.

Being a left coaster, and only seeing pictures all of these years, and then to actually walk around and see the memorials in all of their glory :eek

It was amazing. :thumb

And then to drive a few hours and see, smell, touch some of the sites. Well.......... humbling doesn't describe it.

A buddy of mine lives in Fredericksburg, VA and worked in D.C. as one of those federal bureaucrats. That was the last time we were in DC; he took the van into work, while we wandered around the city for (only) a few hours.

My wife really wants to head back that way...we have friends in NC and a niece who rides that's a few hours away in SC. Not sure if this year that'll happen, but I'd like to before I'm too old to do so.
