About 2 months ago, we found the BEST Apple Butter we have EVER tasted! OMG what a great flavor!
So I got to thinking, I would use apple sauce to make my own Apple Butter. Years ago, abt 25 yrs or so ago, we use to make our own on the wood stove. Would take a day or two but by golly the house smelt delicious!
So this morning, I gathered up all the dry spices, sugars and such and put it all together in the crock..dumped in a bunch of apple sauce and set the crock on high. Let it cook abt 10 hrs and agn, the house smells DELICIOUS!
The apple sauce apple butter tastes pretty good, it's not as good as what we got a couple months ago, but we will have no problem eating it up. I think we can tweak the spices a little to get it pretty darn close tho.
I used apple sauce cause I didnt want to stand there and prep 10,000 apples.
All in all, this came out pretty good!

I made salted apple caramel sauce. Boil 1 gallon of apple cider down to approx. 1.5 pints. Strain thru cheesecloth. Add salt to taste. Pour into small jars, cover and refrigerate. The sauce is tart and very apple-y. I probably didn't add enough salt but I didn't want to overpower the other flavors. Serve on ice cream, apple pie, or use as a cider concentrate.
