I really like this grape, but it's like many grape varieties, it depends on where it it grown.
In Argentina this is the only red grape they turn into decent wine... and they turn it into v-e-r-y good wine. But the other grapes [cabernet, shiraz, etc.] are largely undrinkable.
Conversely, most of the Malbec wines from here in Australia are not worth buying. In truth, only one has impressed me.
Really don't drink that much of it, even though I'm right in the middle of the industry.
I even got a driving gig this year to supplement the retirement. I've been to some cool places getting small batches of fruit (grapes).

Each of these 'bins" holds 1,000 pounds roughly of grapes. I forget what variety these were.

I wonder how many acres yield 1000lb? And how many bottles from from those grapes?
Old post...
Growers produce 25t/ha give or take. You could easily grow your 450kg on 10-12 vines in your backyard if you have full light and that amount of fruit will produce 270-320 litres of wine depending on variety. 350 plus bottles...
FWIW, my other home is a wine grape producer and winery.
Edit: fixed the dodgy math. 600-700 litres per tonne, 800+ bottles per tonne.
