I posted to let my friends know I was ok after breakup with boyfriend and back to riding solo. So, I got banned for posting "personal drama". I was on the forum for a very long time, even supporting it.

That is just insane. I could understand the post being trimmed or moved for off topic or wrong forum. But a banning?!!! Sooo odd.

Recently received a notice from an old, disused email account that my storage was maxxed. Apparently,it has been kept active by spam and the app on an old ipad. Interestingly, seems I've been receiving bans from advr for posts I made there 12+ years ago ?? Strikes me as a little stalky, especially since I have not been on the site itself in a couple years. To add, among my transgressions was "Liking" some posts, while not "Liking" others. The chief complainant seemed to be Dusty, which we will call him because that's his name and because he is no Jim Thorpe, along with other members of his clique whom, as far as I recall, I had placed on ignore long ago. Their moderator friend at the time, we will call her reama because that's her name, played enforcer for their hurt feelings, it would seem. So, that's how the kinder,gentler adv2.0 rolled. I miss Lil Native and her illegal clicks...

As I recall both,Baldy and Rudy 'anointed' Bryan/Cannonshot who then began eagerly sucking the VerticalScope dick when the opportunity was presented. In his defense, he is a military man so his life revolves around doing as he is told.

The fact of the matter is that, since the long ago days of Fish and cRaSh, moderation there was never fair and impartial- it's just that back then the capricious and arbitrary nature of it was fun,funny and good-natured.

Later, with the arrival of adv2.0, when baldy fully mounted up on the drama llama and began addressing the "1000's of women" who messaged him weekly that they would love to join the site but were "frightened away by the rampant sexism and misogyny" to be found, was the point at which discussion forum moderation turned nasty, mean and vindictive with the main theme being one of nepotism- it became a Big Club and if you weren't in it then the rules were applied differently. Also known as the Reign of Reama.

Obviously, the sale to Rudy- all contemporaneous protestations to the contrary, was the beginning of the transition to VS but by then Baldy had bigger fish to fry, namely, his attempt to monetize online conversation with the now defunct Cake.co.
To be fair, he had no chance going up against the Goliath known as Reddit, using the same David strategies with which he founded ADVR.
By this point, the die was cast; aside from some stray video reviews of motorcycles, baldy was now simply the former owner and the great experiment which he breathed to life was out of his hands.

The fact of the matter is that I am all for fair and balanced forum moderation because, as we all know, people can be raging assholes online. The keywords there being fair and balanced.

If community standards and site rules are somehow being violated, and the community standards and rules are reasonable, then that's a problem.
But being banned and sanctioned for not "Liking" the posts of a moderator, or her friends, or having her clique members on ignore is beyond absurd.

People constantly referenced Ride Reports as the 'crown jewel' of ADV rider; I always disagreed.

To me, the real crown jewel was JM- a place where all the misfits could fit.

And it was good.

JM *was* indeed a crown jewel. Yes, we had various dealings with motorcycles (which is what brought us there...) but we stayed around because JM was so fucking fun.

It's ephemeral - as it should be.

I forgot this forum existed, but was thinking about ADVRider this week.

I'd been on that forum since 2007, and was one of the prolific CSM maggots. First time I got banned, I was mad and I deserved it. Said something that was against the old CSM policy about not threatening others.

But then I got banned in March, 2024 for disagreeing on a policy discussion. And haven't been back sense.
