Happy 4th of July to all my American friends out there.

Happy Treason Day to the English blokes, & have a great weekend to all of you down under.

Parade tomorrow, fireworks downtown tomorrow night, BBQ lunch in there somewhere, and some Irish whiskey.

Growing up in Nebraska in the late 50s and 60s, the fourth was a time of neighborhood celebrations and picnics. Here is a picture of the neighborhood friends and the annual 4th parade. After this was gunny sack races and other fun events that kept us out of trouble. (most of the time) Then, eat. Hot dogs, baked beans, watermelon and then pies, lots of pies. All made by the neighborhood folks.

This picture is from around 1963 I think. Look at the cars. Good times.

What kind of car is the closest one in the picture? The one behind looks like the grill of a mid 50's chevy.

And a 1959 Ford Fairlane or Galaxy 500 convertible in the back.

They changed the grille in the early 60's.

A couple more old cars. I like the pickup at the end of the street.
