Short version: I looked at every manufacturer's range, and found nothing I wanted.
It's like the industry, which I used to work for, has abandoned me?
Moto Guzzi was slightly appealing, but nothing really. BMW had the retro scrambler nineT GS Urban thing... but still only 50/50 plus the price is too high.
Triumph has a few that appeal, but I already have the 2006 Scrambler [with carbs!] and apart from new handlebars I don't see much of a difference...
So... is there anything NEW out there that you'd buy?

I'm likin' the Yamaha Tenere' 700 coming in 2020. We'll see once I ride one.

So is this. Nothing special just a 850CC standard bike.
What is the end use? Maybe go out and ride a few. Riding can change your mind compared to just looking.

We don't get the 85 models until next year [it takes the boat a l-o-n-g time to get here].
The v9 is really nice but I am a fat bastard I dwarf it. It's not as bad as the Ducati scrambler which literally disappears somewhere up my butt crack, but it's close. The HD '48 is similar.
My main point is that there's nothing to tempt me to upgrade from what I have, a Bonneville Scrambler.
And, the joy of looking in the bike shops is kindof dead.

Sounds like your bored. Big Bore Dirt bike sounds like a plan. Let's say a CR500. Maybe a KX500?

The complexity of today's bikes is putting me off. My next bike will probably be the 700 Tenere.

I also have this sitting in my garage, on loan for a few months. Not two wheels but rides like one, sort of of.

Never being one to follow trends my bike needs wants etc are probably far from mainstream.
I have always bought used bikes, and i am fairly set in my ways in what i want from a bike.
Here are a few i think i like from today's / modernish crop i have ridden and liked and why i did.
Not an adv bike fan but i have had use of a 2016 tiger 800 XCX for about 15 months and can see me getting to buy itas its owner is not coming home from NZ anytime soon. i do like the tiger its not really an off roader if i am honest, but its competent for what it is and praisingly versatile . i would term it a round the 60 40 area on percent favouring the on road.
A good bike though IMO and has been reliable 40k miles.
i rode a enfield 650 inteceptor nearly new, and i have to admit, i did not want to give it back. it was a breath of fresh airb in a austere world of plastic faired bikes. Very basic very refreshing and it gave humble but quite adequate for requirements performance. Its handling was again basic and typical of bikes of its kind but again it was enough, and no way scary or lacking. I think as an overall package and for its money the enfield twin is simply awesome. You might not agree with me but its how i feel. and i will get one brand new when i retire in three years.
Vulcan s 650 . yet agin not so much a cruser/ bobber bike fan, but a cheap 93 vulcan en500 i have proved to me that kawasaki not only make a sweet good performing 500 twin but have a reasonable chassis for a cruiser bike too.
The vulcan s 650 is like a grown up more refined i guess vulcan 500. its twin cylinder 650 is a decent performer, and i like the whole riding experience, its quite competent when you settle down to getting accustomed to it. and i would have one if i were in the market for a small dodge about cruiser .
Honda CMX500 rebel. yet another Bobber cruiserish bike. and again fun ride, and i did like the experience overall. it was no powerhouse but non the less enjoyable to ride, a well proportioned stable performer, i think honda did a good job with the 500 rebel myself.
now here we have a bike i love. The CCM spitfire 610 husquey engined custom looking street iron , i love it . It looked great rode well and again i did not want to give it back. If your in the market for such an odd ball bike, give it a look its a keeper in my opinion.
