idea shamelessly stolen from an astronomy forum I semi-frequent...

Write the next part of the story! Simple!

I'll start:

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far far away, it was a dark and stormy night...

The wind was swirling ,and the trees where reaching their breaking point .

[campfire]

Suddenly, the root structure started to give way and a branch shot toward the portal of the dome shelter. John felt the fear shoot though his system if the window was to break.

John rushed to the portal, bracing against it as the branch struck the dome.

[LadyDraco]

John was knocked on his ass, Not realizing the force that struck the dome..

[Delicate Snowflake]

John was dazed, but realised the dome structure had survived the impact. He thought he saw a shadow pass near the portal, dismissing it as impossible all the way out here, but then he heard distinct knocking at the portal... knock knock knock...

[LadyDraco]

It was his old friend the sheriff ,who had come by to warn him about the dam …
But in the wee hours ? John thought to himself that is odd...

Part of him was tempted to open the portal. But there was a growing hesitation building somewhere within.

[LadyDraco]

John started thinking about the shape shifters that he has heard all about.
And how they can seem like one thing , and ………..

[Camp Director]

then suddenly, from behind without warning, there.....

[Delicate Snowflake]

... was a loud 'crack' like a small bullwhip, and as John turned he noticed in the corner of his eye that the Sheriff wasn't outside the portal anymore...

[Camp Director]

....he was behind John, with a bull whip and wearing a pirate outfit. John immediately dropped his.....

[campfire]

...glass of Orionian champagne across the shelter floor. Staring at the whip, he was reminded of the basement.

As that brief memory flashed across his conscious mind, John immediately realised what he'd done. The creature was awakened.

The trapdoor that had long been sealed creaked open in the centre of the floor, and both John and the pirate-sheriff stared transfixed at the red glow from the trapdoor, as...

it slowly raised up ….

and they could see, staring back at them...

[LadyDraco]

From under the trap door and the red glow was...

[Delicate Snowflake]

... the creature.

[LadyDraco]

The creature was some what gruesome .. It looked like...……..

Sasquatch with glowing eyes. large fangs, and a hairy....
