ADV Banned Camp

For those who dismiss electric bikes on range issues a Swiss rider has done an SS1000 on a Harley-Davidson LiveWire. Forget the cost and look at the bike. Ride one.......we have a demo and want people to ride one and experience the bike. It's a fun ride and nice bike Beyond that. If you really want to ride one PM me and I'll set ya up with a demo ride......that is if you're close enough for practicality.

But seriously, it is a nice looking bike.
The "Heartbeat" feature is a nice touch to let you know that it's activated and ready.
And a 100 mile range? That can get you anywhere here in the San Francisco Bay Area, and there are charge stations EVERYWHERE here. (helps to have Tesla around for that)

Are Tesla power plugs the same as HD ?

Yeah the level 3 charging is standardized. However it should be used prudently as it has a negative affect on battery life. Level 1 household (120V AC over here) is best but takes overnight. Battery replacement is expensive to say the least.

Interesting... here the Tesla plug is special, and only for Teslas. Hmm.

Overnight slow charging would seem best [thinking about batteries generally].

except I know a lot about EVs, cars and bikes. I work in the sector. So I am hardly ignorant.

Opinion is opinion, which is what I expressed. Neither right nor wrong, just opinion.

BUT, why spend so much money on the HD livewire when there are other options that cost less, go further and probably are better made.

You appear to have formed an opinion without ever experiencing the vehicle in question,probably not even setting eyes upon one. Not exactly a scientific approach. Nor did you watch the video. Showa Big Piston forks,Showa Triple adjustable Cushion Light shock,Brembo Monobloc brakes,Michelin tires......all top shelf components. State of the art traction control,ABS,anti-wheelie/stoppie functions all controlled by a 6 axis Bosch IMU. It's certainly not poorly made. As I posted before "contempt before investigation." Go ride one and then form an opinion. You may not be an ignorant person but you are ignorant when it comes to this motorcycle.

Note I am a curmudgeon, my Triumph still has carbs for example.

But... more broadly [and not brand/model specific] - are EV's going to take over / become the main engine in Motorcycles? Is that where we're headed?

And as several of you work currently in the industry... how fast is this coming? Are we seeing concept vehicles getting to on-road availability, or is this is near future?

I believe it will be a slow integration into the mainstream as acceptance and product mature. Gasoline is still relatively cheap and easy to obtain. Societal change typically moves at a glacial pace because ingrained habits are difficult to break or modify. Depending on your age you may not see it. Don't think I will.

Don't matter how good it rides if I have to stop for 8 hours to recharge it.

......that isn't Harley specific, its just not my ride.

I bought a new iPhone a while back and it comes with 1 year of "free" Apple TV. The series is on there in 7a few episodes.

I think they stated this in 2018, and finished it up last year. The logistics of the charging stations was a huge undertaking, along with trying to find "household" outlets in South America with enough amperage to charge the bikes. It seems freezing temps makes charging the bikes shut down completely, and making a 13,000 mile trip 100 miles at a time between charging is the adventure.

The scenery is awesome as usual, but I'm not enjoying it as much as Long Way Round. Still good though.

Two things wrong with it. It is Charely and what his face, and they are riding Harley's.
