Re: Comfort Food
A lot of those look familiar. The ones with the Hershey's Kiss in the middle, my grandmother would make around the holidays. Along with some German traditional treats. Always a good time.
What is the white square thing in the picture? It looks like a salt block I would put out for the deer in the winter.

As any good cook knows, you have to balance sweet with salt! Makes it all taste better.Camp Director wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2023 9:17 am What is the white square thing in the picture? It looks like a salt block I would put out for the deer in the winter.

Re: Comfort Food
I think my blood sugar went up by 10 points just looking at that table! And I’m not even diabetic (yet)!
Re: Comfort Food
Between cycling, running, swimming and the gym I burn more than12MJ (about 3000 diet calories) above my BMR every day. I get to eat a lot without paying a price on my waist line. Cook tries to fatten me up, but it doesn't work.
One of my favourites is her jambalaia (Provencal btw), a slightly fatty mish-mash of different meats and vegetable, served any way you like. There is usually a big pot of it in the refrigerator that I snack on. When the children wander in for food in the morning I reheat and serve it on rye toast to keep them going until breakfast. Sometimes an egg or grated cheese on top.
